FC Barcelona won their second treble in 2014/15 behind the MSN trio. Many people consider that team as one of the best in history. But since then, the club has been struggling to have similar success. Even though they have won 3 La Ligas since then, they have constantly failed in the Champions League. The past two seasons, Barcelona has crashed out in humiliating fashion after taking great leads.
The Barcelona board has made many poor decisions during the time. They have sold great young talents and spent hundreds of millions on players who have not played well for the club. Even when the 2019/20 stopped due to Coronavirus, Barcelona was struggling. Fans are hoping that upcoming offseason goes better for the club. The following is the ideal lineup for FC Barcelona for the 2020/21 season.
FC Barcelona 2020/21 Perfect Lineup: Defence
Marc Andre Ter-Stegen will remain the goalkeeper for the club. He has arguably been the best player for the club alongside Messi this season. Ter-Stegen has saved points for the club with his keeping and there is no question about who the goalkeeper should be. The rest of the defence needs to be much better, however.
Only Clement Lenglet and Pique have been doing well in their roles this season. Samuel Umtiti continues to get injuries and there is no other quality backup defender. The full-backs are below par as even Jordi Alba has lost his form. Barcelona needs to sell Nelson Semedo and Junior Firpo. In their place, the club needs to sign Alex Grimaldo and Sergino Dest. Grimaldo can be the started and Dest can play backup to Roberto till he is ready to start. The club also needs to bring back Jean-Clair Todibo.

FC Barcelona 2020/21 Perfect Lineup: Midfield
The club’s starters need to remain the same with Busquets as the CDM, and De Jong and Arthur manning the CM positions. All three are world-class and there is no one who should be playing instead. The club needs to sell Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal but not sign anyone else. Promoting La Masia talents like Riqui Puig, Alex Collado, and bringing back Carles Alena is the way to go forward.
FC Barcelona 2020/21 Perfect Lineup: Attack
Lionel Messi’s place cannot be disputed. He should play the false 9 and Griezmann and Dembele should be on the wings with him. This would form a lethal and versatile front three that would score many goals. As a backup, the club should stick with players like Luis Suarez, Martin Braithwaite, and Francisco Trincao.
Barcelona would have a great mix of young and veteran talent in this team. This lineup would also allow Barcelona to return to their style of football and dominate other teams as they used to in the past.
