‘Arthdal Chronicles,’ a sprawling fantasy, mysticism, and romance epic, is South Korea’s ‘Game of Thrones.’ The series, directed by Kim Won-Seok and written by Kim Young-Hyun, is a fast-paced, fictitious account of the origins of Korea’s Gojoseon Kingdom. 

The show’s first season started on June 1, 2019, on tVN and Netflix and concluded on September 22, 2019. Here is all we know about the second season of Arthdal Chronicles.

Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 Release Date

Arthdal Chronicles, a South Korean series, premiered on Netflix in June 2019. After about eight months, the program was renewed in February 2020. 

Unfortunately, filming was halted due to the epidemic, and Netflix dropped Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 from their 2021 roster.

Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 Plot

‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is a superb fantasy period drama set in ancient Korea. This narrative, mostly about power conflicts and strong love, maybe a synthesis of history, tales, and folklore. 

Asadal, the capital of Gojoseon, was historically the first Korean kingdom created by king Dangun. A synthesis of history and mythology defines this age. 

Dangun was born to a Godly prince and a bear-woman, according to legends. ‘Arthdal Chronicles’ is heavily influenced by this same plot and follows two major characters, the protagonist and antagonist, as they leave their imprint on this historical event.

We meet Eun Seom, born in Blue Stone Village, a nomadic tribe’s home. He is a tenacious warrior and guardian of his tribe, and he does not hesitate to defend his clan from external foes. 

As prophesied before, he subsequently conquers and expands the fabled city of Arthdal. He eventually meets and falls in love with Tan-ya. She is born under the impact of a blue comet’s energy and rises to become the land’s first crown princess and first female politician. 

She is the Wahan Tribe’s heir apparent who understands that it is her destiny to rule and defend her people.

Ta-gon is a battle warrior and strategist who aspires to be king of Arthdal. He is the son of the Saenyeok Tribe’s chief. He is one of the most dangerous characters since he is charismatic, skilled, and unpredictable. 

On the other side, Tae Al-ha is the empire’s first empress and the only surviving member of the Noeantal race. Extremely attractive and intriguing, she has an unquenchable thirst for power.

As these four heroes engage in combat, create diplomatic alliances, and fall in love, the ultimate issue is who will survive and who will ultimately govern. 

As we go through ancient periods with these fabled warriors, we see a mythological picture of the origin of civilization in the imaginary continent of Arth. The majority of acts occur in Arthdal and revolve around the inhabitants’ love and togetherness.

Yes, the aesthetic resembles ‘Game of Thrones’ and makes for excellent viewing, particularly for die-hard fantasy lovers. 

Each episode offers new themes, tribes, and traditions. Additionally, the creators have done an incredible job developing ancient languages, like Dothraki’s progression in ‘Game of Thrones. It’s huge and majestic, evoking ancient Greece and medieval Europe.

‘Arthdal Chronicles’ aims to explain how every aspect of contemporary life began grassroots, from politics to religion, business, and society. 

It sheds light on how people evolved to establish nations. How did they escape a brutal life and establish a cultured country? This play, centered on four characters who battle with power, ambition, love, and survival, reflects our present life.
