Around the World in 80 Days has been renewed for a second season, with more adventure in store for unlikely globetrotter Phileas Fogg (David Tennant) and his traveling companions Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch) and Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma).
Based on Jules Verne’s 1872 novel, Season one opened with Victorian gentleman-turned-explorer Mr. Fogg accepting a £20,000 wager to round the World in 80 days or fewer before leaving on his expedition with the assistance of his enigmatic manservant Passepartout and journalist Abigail Fix.
The BBC One historical drama, renewed before the first season’s Boxing Day launch last year, closed its season finale (surprise!) with Phileas winning his titular wager with barely one second to spare before the trio contemplated their next, perhaps nautical trip.
Is another Jules Verne adaptation in the works – this time for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea?
The Around the World star recounted being sold the idea of a second season at the end of season one’s filming (to which she answered, “Yes, 1,000 percent!”).
She stated ahead of the premiere of season one: “That is one heck of a confident declaration… It’s quite exciting,” he continued, adding, “I’d do almost any work with David [Tennant] involved simply to learn more from him.”

Review of Around the World in 80 Days Season 1:
The first season of Around the World in 80 Days received favorable reviews from reviewers. We anticipate a strong response from the audience for the second season of Around the World in 80 Days.
After the first season, we saw Abigail, Fogg, and Passepartout trapped on a barren island following their latest defeat.
Later on, secrets are uncovered, and with the clock ticking, they must discover and learn to forgive one another and work together to make their next destination in time.
Following that, Fortescue and Bellamy, England, received some awful news. While racing through the Rockies, Fogg allows an Iconic law enforcement officer and his prisoner to share the chartered stagecoach, unknowing that the captive’s comrades are hard on his tail, which results in a violent battle before dusk.
Later, a reunion, fatal dockside peril, and red tape conspire against Phileas Fogg. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
We anticipate that the first season of Around the World in 80 Days will be followed by a second season.
We will update this page if we learn anything new regarding the plot of Around the World in 80 Days Season 2. Let us discuss the upcoming release of the second season of the television series Around the World in 80 Days.
