Asteroids are quite common to hit the Earth surface. However, NASA has been tracking an asteroid for some days. Asteroid 465824 2010 FR is assumed to be as twice as big as the Pyramid of Giza.
Additionally, on September 6, it is estimated to cross the earth’s orbit. This has been classified into a potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA) and a Near-Earth Object (NEO) as well.
The near-Earth objects generally move closer to the planet earth. And they typically orbit around the sun. It is the work of NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Study to measure that distance.
The NEOs as comets and asteroids are categorised by NASA depending upon their gravitational force of attraction.
However, everything in the space is mostly composed of water, ice and embedded dust particles.
Discovered Decades Back
Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) discovered the coming asteroid a decade back. They discovered Asteroid 465824 2010 FR on March 18, 2010.
Asteroids are nothing but some minor planets that revolve around the sun. In NASA there are nearly 994,383 known asteroids.
Asteroids are generally found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. This belt has nearly 1.1-1.9 million asteroids.
