After starring in an advertisement alongside her mother, Chlumsky made her big screen debut in John Hughes’ 1989 comedy “Uncle Buck.” Her breakthrough performance came two years later in the coming-of-age dramedy “My Girl,” where she portrayed Vada Sultenfuss, a young child living in Madison, Pennsylvania in the 1970s. Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Macaulay Culkin—another child actor—were also in the cast.
