As a rule, cable shows cannot last much longer than this unless they are extremely successful, like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. As programming progresses, it becomes more expensive. A show like Animal Kingdom just feels right after six seasons. As well as telling its story and doing some great things, it does not overstay its welcome.
