When Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp in 2016, she asked him to pay her US$50,000 a month in spousal support and pay her legal bills. Part of the request was that she had to tell them about her finances and show them documents from her legal team. This did not look good for the actress. Celebrity Net Worth said that Depp’s fortune at the time was worth about $400 million, while Heard’s finances were in bad shape. At the time, she was thought to make about $10,000 a month, but her “basic” costs were about $44,000 a month.
In the US$50 million defamation case against Heard, Depp’s accountant and business manager, Edward White, testified about the costs of the couple’s divorce. White told Newsweek that Heard asked for a divorce settlement of $4 million at first, but this grew to about $14 million. He said that between 2017 and 2018, about US$6.8 million was paid directly to Heard.
Depp said that he gave Heard all of the money on time. He also said that her opinion piece in The Washington Post in 2018, in which she said she had been a victim of domestic abuse, had hurt his career and caused Hollywood to avoid him. Even though Heard didn’t name him in the article, this is the case. Depp denied that he abused Heard, and in one of the most dramatic celebrity trials of the century, millions of people saw private details about the couple.

In the papers that Heard’s lawyers turned in, records showed that she spent about US$120,000 a year on rent. Documents said that the one-time amount was a “basic expense” and that it was one of the most expensive things Heard had to pay each month.
Entertainment and Vacations
Heard told the court in a detailed accounting of her finances that she spent about US$5,000 a month on entertainment and gifts. At the time, there were no details about the amount, but the fact that she was spending so much when she was only thought to make $10,000 set off alarm bells. Heard’s lawyers also said that she spent $60,000 a year on luxury vacations.
Designer Clothing
Heard said that he spent up to $2,000 a month on clothes, which adds up to $24,000 a year. Even though she had been a brand ambassador for Guess and L’Oréal Paris in the past, not everything is free.
Health and Diet
Documents from the court showed that Heard spent $2,000 a month on eating out. The actress also said that she spent an extra $2,000 a month on groceries. Another US$3,000 a month was put toward health care, but it wasn’t clear what this cost was for.
Pet Supplies
Her financial records also showed how much she owed for pet supplies and how much she owed her public relations officer and her lawyer for the divorce. US Weekly said that Heard made about US$260,000 in 2015, but after paying his bills, he only took home about US$51,000.
