On Saturday, the actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York City after a woman claimed she was assaulted in a domestic dispute, according to police.
The New York Police Department stated that 33-year-old Majors was taken into custody late morning on suspicion of strangulation, assault, and harassment.
A lawyer for Majors, Priya Chaudhry, said that her team was gathering proof to show the district attorney that Majors was innocent. She anticipates that “all charges will be dismissed promptly.”
“This evidence includes video from the car where the incident happened, as well as testimony from the driver and other people who saw and heard what happened,” Chaudhry said.
At approximately 11:14 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a 911 call from the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, where a 30-year-old woman reported that men had assaulted her.
The woman was hurt in what the NYPD called a domestic dispute. After an initial investigation, the police said they could back up her claims.
According to a statement from the police department, the victim had minor head and neck injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
The actor, who was in “Creed III,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania,” and the critically acclaimed 2019 independent film “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” has been getting a lot of attention this spring for projects like U.S. Army television commercials and a new movie about NBA legend Dennis Rodman.

The arrest has messed up the Army’s new advertising campaign, which was meant to increase the number of people joining the service, which has been falling.
Majors was the narrator of two advertisements at the center of a more extensive media campaign that launched at the beginning of the NCAA March Madness college basketball tournament.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Army’s Enterprise Marketing Office said that the Army knew about the majors’ arrest and was “deeply concerned by the allegations. “The statement said, “Majors is thought to be innocent until proven guilty, but common sense says we should pull our ads until the investigation into these claims is done.”
Majors was born in Lompoc, California, and attended Yale school. Earlier this month, she presented at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
