French prosecutors said on Friday that Paris Saint-Germain player Achraf Hakimi had been charged with rape.
On Saturday, February 25, a 24-year-old woman said that Hakimi, also 24, raped her at his home in Paris. The lawyer for Morocco International, Fanny Colin, has said in the past that the claim is “false.” In a statement released at the beginning of March, Hakimi’s representative confirmed that the football player was “making himself available to the authorities” for the investigation.
AFP has now heard from prosecutors that he has been officially charged. Under French law, an indictment means that there is reason to think a crime has been committed, but it gives investigators more time to look into the case before deciding whether or not to send it to court.
First Reports From France It was said that Hakimi didn’t find out about the investigation until 90 minutes before the FIFA The Best Awards on Monday night. The right-back was put on the Fifpro Men’s World 11 list because of what he did on the field.
According to Le Parisien, the alleged victim told police about the incident on Sunday night but did not want to press charges against the footballer. Still, the public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris, confirmed that a probe had been started.

Before the charges were made, PSG put out a statement. It says: “The team backs the player, who has strongly denied the claims and believes in the justice system. Paris St. Germain is an institution that encourages respect on and off the field.”
Hakimi began his career at Real Madrid. He was born in Madrid. He played 17 games for the Spanish club and helped them win the Champions League in 2018. During the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, he was on loan to the German team Borussia Dortmund.
Hakimi joined the Italian team Inter Milan in the summer of 2020, and in his only season there, the team won the Serie A title. He joined PSG a year later, and last year he helped them win the Ligue 1 title. This season, he has played in 31 club games across all competitions.
Hakimi is also a well-known international player. He has already played 61 games for Morocco at the senior level, and he was on the team that made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar last year. It was the first time an African country had done something like that.
