Abby and Brittany Hensel are conjoined twins who share a single torso but have distinct heads and necks. Their torso is broader than typical, and they possess individual pairs of arms and legs. Initially, they were born with an extra, underdeveloped arm between their neck bases, which was subsequently removed through surgery, leaving only the shoulder blade behind.
Abby and Brittany Hensel display distinct physical features from one another. Abby’s head is slightly angled outward by about 5 degrees towards the right, while Brittany’s leans about 15 degrees to the left, making her look shorter even seated. Brittany has a leg almost two inches shorter than Abby’s, leading her to walk and stand on tiptoe, giving her a noticeably larger calf muscle than Abby’s.
To address a difference in spinal growth, with Brittany having stopped growing prematurely, measures were taken to halt Abby’s spinal growth.
