Patrick Duffy is an American actor and is probably best known for his role as Bobby Ewing in the original, long-running CBS primetime soap opera “Dallas,” which debuted in the late ’70s (and again in the new version of the show on TNT in 2012).
In the nineties, he also appeared in 160 sitcom “Step By Step” episodes, costarring with Suzanne Somers as Frank Lambert. In addition, Patrick directed 49 “Step by Step” episodes. In this post, we will talk about Patrick Duffy’s wife, career, and early life.
Who is Patrick Duffy’s Wife?
On February 15, 1974, the Dallas actor and Carlyn Rosser exchanged vows in San Bernardino, California. At the time of their marriage, Patrick was 24 years old and Rosser was 34. The pair shared a home for more than 42 years.
Carlyn was twelve years older than Duffy, yet their love had no bounds. Padraic Duffy and Conor Duffy are the two children they raised as a lovely family.
Their happy and close-knit family surrounded their Eagle Point, Oregon, house. Regretfully, the couple’s forty-year journey took a somber turn in 2017 when Carlyn Rosser passed away from cancer.
When Carlyn passed away on January 23, 2017, she was 77. Patrick Duffy would need several years to recuperate from the vacuum she left in his life after she passed. But he had constant support from their family and their two kids during this trying time.

Patrick Duffy Career
Early in the 1970s, Duffy relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he attempted to succeed as an actor for several years. After playing in minor roles in a couple of TV movies and in an episode of “Switch” in 1976, his big break came in 1976 when he earned the lead part in the science-fiction series “Man From Atlantis.” I
n the program, Duffy portrayed Mark Harris, a creature from the long-lost continent of Atlantis who a research scientist found unconscious on a beach. Harris appeared human, but he was limited to a short period out of the water due to webbed hands and feet. The fall of 1977 to the spring of the following year was the only season that the show ran.
“Dallas,” his next part, was not an instant hit, but it would come to define his career. Duffy quit the series in 1985 in search of more daring roles because he was sick of being the nice guy, even though the show eventually became almost a cult classic. The show “killed off” him. The ratings for “Dallas” plummeted following Duffy’s exit, and in 1986, he was persuaded to reprise his role as the amiable Bobby Ewing.
The authors of the program explained Ewing’s disappearance, citing a now-famous shower scene in which he resurfaced and said his death had been “just a dream.” Even if this strategy did not work for everyone, it is now a well-known aspect of TV history—much like the cliffhanger “Who Shot J.R.?” will always be associated with the Dallas legacy.
In the meantime, Duffy was also attempting a singing career. His duet with French singer Mireille Mathieu, “Together We’re Strong,” became a smash in Europe in 1983. In April 1983, their song peaked at No. 5 in the Netherlands.
